Saddle Wating time

A question that we get asked a lot is 'How long does it take to get a saddle custom made to order?'  The answer is that it depends on several factors such as:

• How many saddles a saddle maker has on order at that time - If saddles are ordered quicker than a saddle maker can make them they will get further behind on the orders.
• The availiblity of saddle trees - Even though some saddle maker build their own trees we are fortunate to have several good tree makers who make rawhide covered saddle trees for us. Due to the demand there is normally a waiting time for these  trees
• Other work required in a saddle shop - Some saddle makers don't do repair work and some only choose to repair their own saddles. We repair our own saddles and sometimes we repair other well made saddles as a service. We also make some tack and saddlery.

Every good cuctom saddle maker is going to have  awaiting time for their saddles. Our advice is to choose your saddle maker wisely and then be patient because they will be doing everything within their ability to get your saddle made in a timely manner.

At present (2017) we are around 18 months behind on custom orders with a turnaround time of less than 6 months for our exccellent Horseshoe B Saddlery saddles.

Because of the waiting time the deposit required to secure your place on our waiting list is relatively small and please note once you have secured your position on our waiting list should the opportunity arise (and it does from time to time) to get your saddle made ealier you can rest assured we will do that for you.
